49 years old, Afifa Sultana, lives in Okara. A couple of months ago she felt vision in her left eye getting blurry. She ignored it thinking it will get better on its own. She even tried some home remedies but her sight continued to worsen.
She went for a checkup to a private clinic in her locality and was prescribed glasses but to no avail. Being a widow she was the sole caretaker of her house and two daughters. She and her daughters do embroidery on clothes and household items like table mats, runners etc. to earn their livelihood.
Due to Afifa’s eye problem she was unable to complete her work on time and they were finding it difficult to even put food on the table. A kind neighbor when visiting told them about LRBT Mandra hospital and even agreed to take Afifa for a checkup.
At LRBT she was diagnosed with cataract in her left eye and given a date for surgery. She had a successful operation and on her follow-up visit profusely thanked the doctors and staff and said, “LRBT was a ray of hope for poor patients like me who would have been left destitute without treatment. My sincere prayers for this institute and its donors.”
