Fazal Malik, like many others in his village, is uneducated and barely earns enough to support his family.
The untimely death of his father when Fazal was just fourteen devastated him as he had to quit school and find a job to support his mother and three siblings. When his brothers were old enough, they started contributing to the household income and were finally able to support themselves. Fazal got married and has three children.
He works in a naan (bread) shop and has enrolled his children in the local government school. He was content with his life and hopeful for his children’s future when an unfortunate accident almost took away everything from him.
He was on his way home when he fell, hit his head and injured his eye. He received stitches for the cut on his forehead and was prescribed eye drops, but over the next couple of weeks he noticed his vision getting blurry and his work started to suffer.
He confided in his friend who luckily knew about LRBT Akora Khattak and advised him to go there.
At LRBT, Fazal had a thorough examination and was diagnosed with cataract. He underwent a successful surgery and is now back to work. He thanked the doctors and staff saying, “For a poor man like me, surgery was impossible to afford and I would have gone blind in one eye and lost my livelihood. I pray for the continued success of GLT/ LRBT and hope that it continues transforming lives of the underprivileged.”
