Bakht Akbar, was diagnosed with cataract at LRBT Kalakalay Hospital and we provided him with a successful surgery because of your help! Smiling as he got into the Suzuki to drive passengers to and from their destinations in his hometown of Kabal, Swat. He was relieved beyond measure about how different his life would have turned out to be had he not come to LRBT.
Two years ago Bakht had experienced gradual loss of vision in both eyes and he ignored it hoping it would go away on its own. With his four children married, he had to work to support himself, his wife and unmarried sister. Helearned how to drive and was employed as a Suzuki driver carrying passengers to and from in his hometown.
A couple of months ago, his vision in the right eye had deteriorated so much that he was unable to see at all. With hardly any savings he went to a local doctor who gave him some eye drops and told him to take off from work and rest. After a week when his condition was still not better he went back to work but was constantly worried that it was dangerous to drive with poor sight. The thought of losing his job and worse, endangering the lives of the passengers had him so agitated that he was unable to sleep even. Then one day he found out about LRBT Kalakalay and its free services to the poor. He finally saw a ray of hope of leading a normal life once again.
