Hussna – LRBT’s 59 Millionth Miracle
Six-year-old Hussna, was born in the remote village of Kashmore, Sindh—a region where basic healthcare is hard to come by, and financial survival is a daily struggle. The youngest among her siblings, two sisters and a brother, Hussna lives in a modest home filled with love. Her father, a hardworking farmer, earns just enough to cover the family’s essential needs, while her grandparents, who live with them, are the heart of their close-knit home.

Like most children in her village, Hussna’s days were spent chasing chickens, playing with her siblings, and helping care for the family’s few animals. One day she was accidentally struck in the eye by a goat’s horn. At first, her parents thought it was a minor injury and took her to the nearest clinic, where she was given medicine. But her condition only worsened. Hussna began struggling to see, often tilting her head in an attempt to focus.
Alarmed by the change in her behavior, her grandparents stepped in and took her to LRBT’s Secondary Eye Hospital in Gambat. There, she was diagnosed with a traumatic cataract in her right eye—an injury that required urgent surgery to prevent permanent loss of vision. She was referred to LRBT’s Korangi Tertiary Teaching Hospital in Karachi, home to a specialized pediatric unit.
For a family scraping by on a farmer’s wage, the thought of traveling 600 kilometers to Karachi felt almost insurmountable. With her father tied to the fields and her mother unable to leave the younger children behind, the weight of the journey fell to her grandparents. Devoted and unwavering, they made the long trek with little Hussna, determined to get her the care she so desperately needed.
At LRBT Korangi, Hussna underwent a successful cataract surgery that changed everything. The skilled medical team restored not only her sight, but her spirit as well. When the bandages were finally removed, the clouds lifted from her world—her sparkling eyes and radiant smile spoke louder than words.

Today, Hussna is back in Kashmore—laughing, playing, and seeing the world in full color once again. Her journey stands as a testament to the life-changing power of free, quality eye care, the unwavering perseverance of loving grandparents, and the mission of LRBT: to ensure that no one goes blind simply because they cannot afford treatment.
Thanks to LRBT, Hussna’s future is bright—just like her beautiful, joy-filled eyes.
