At just 25 years old, Khalida had already made a sacrifice few people her age would ever consider. Living in the village of Jaro, Sindh, just several kilometers from LRBT Tando Bago Eye Hospital, she chose to remain by her elderly parents’ side instead of starting a family of her own. With both of her brothers married and living separately, Khalida became her parents' only source of care and support. She knew they depended on her, and she never wanted to leave them alone. Then, everything changed. Cataracts slowly stole the sight in both of Khalida’s eyes. The woman who once managed her home and cared tirelessly for her parents found herself unable to carry out even the simplest daily tasks.
